Engine Options
Scag offers both Kawasaki and Kohler/Briggs Vanguard powered gas mowing machines. Some models also come equipped with the option of Kubota diesel or Kohler propane. Your mowing machine will be determined by which one you choose and on your cutting needs, however., for example, lets you pair the 61-inch cutting deck with six different engines, including the 27hp Kawasaki 850FX air-cooled engine and the 37 hp Briggs Vanguard EFI air-cooled engine. There are also three options for the 72-inch cutting deck. Not every Scag mower offers this much flexibility in choosing which engine powers it, but many do. And Scag ensured they pair all their mowers with engines capable of reliably powering your new mower for many years.
Cutting Decks
Scag offers several different types of lawnmower blades. Some models even include a special blade for grassy areas.
A Tri-Plate cutter is an excellent choice for cutting large areas of lawn quickly and easily. They come equipped with 3 blades designed to cut weeds, and they’re made to withstand heavy use. Walk-Behind Mowers
Scag has three models of commercial walk behind mower, and they’ve designed each one for commercial-grade, no-till performance. These mowing machines are versatile, easy to use, and you can easily change the comfortable handles for different operators.
They are engineered to deliver outstanding performance in a variety of environments. Choose from three cutting widths—a 32-in., 36-in., or 48-in.—and two engine choices—a 3.8L V6 or 4.2L V8. Both engines come equipped with an automatic transmission and rear wheel drive. A 5-speed manual transmission is optional on both models. It features a large cast iron bed-plate and a heavy duty steel frame.

It provides forward ground speed up to 7 miles per hour. The floating decks are made from fully fabricated (no stamped) commercial-quality, stainless-steels reinforcements for added strength. They come in 36-, 48-, 51- or 60-inch models.
Stand-On Mowers
Scag’s new V-Ride II combines the power and performance of a ride-on mower with the convenience and maneuverability of a walk-through mower. It takes up less room than a traditional walk-through and has the ability to reach speeds of up to 20 mph.
The maximum forward speed depends on the size of your lawn. On the larger sizes (48″, 52″ and 61″), you can expect to go about 10.5 miles per hour. Smaller sizes (32″ and 36″) will give you around 8.5 miles per hour, while the smallest size (24″) will only do up to 6.25 miles per hour. Reverse speed helps you maintain control of your mower during those tricky turns.
